Antioxidant and Anti-Aging Potential of Indian Sandalwood Oil against Environmental Stressors In Vitro and Ex Vivo

Distilled from the heartwood of Santalum album, Indian sandalwood oil is an essential that historically has been used as a natural active ingredient in cosmetics to condition and brighten skin. It documented exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative activities. Here, we investigated protective anti-aging effects scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) HaCaT cells human skin explants after exposure oxidative stress. Using probe DCFH-DA, antioxidant capacity was monitored following blue light at 412 nm 450 or cigarette smoke. The effect also explored via assessment collagenase level (MMP-1).
